As part of developing students’ linguistic and cultural competence, as well as increasing interest in the rich heritage of Russian literature, the Zhambyl Humanitarian Higher College named after Abai successfully held an academic Olympiad in Russian language and literature for first- and second-year students from groups studying in the state language.
The intellectual competition was organized by the Philology Department. The direct conduct and methodological support of the Olympiad were provided by the Russian language and literature teacher, A.T. Seisenbayeva.
The main goal of the event was not only to identify the most gifted and motivated students, but also to stimulate interest in studying the Russian language as a language of intercultural communication; to strengthen practical Russian language skills and deepen the understanding of Russian literature; and to support integration into Kazakhstan’s multilingual educational space.
The competition program included tasks of various levels of complexity, covering grammar, vocabulary, speech culture, as well as knowledge of key works and biographies of classical Russian authors.
“The Olympiad became vivid proof that students studying in the state language demonstrate a high level of Russian proficiency and deep respect for Russian literature. This is an important step in implementing the principles of trilingualism established in our country,” noted one of the jury members, additional education teacher A.K. Temirgalieva.
The students demonstrated not only excellent knowledge, but also a creative approach to solving non-standard linguistic tasks. Their skills in interpreting literary texts and clearly presenting their arguments in Russian were especially highly valued.
Based on the results of all rounds, the winners and prize-holders were determined—those who demonstrated the best performance.
